Arsenal are on the verge of signing Napoli star striker Gonzalo Higuain for what could be a fraction of his market value.
According to the Metro, the Gunners are prepared to sign Higuain for £42.7 million this summer – a full £24 million less than the 27-year-old Argentian’s estimated market value. The Metro reported that after weeks of utterly refusing to listen to offers for their star scoring machine, the Serie A club is ready to sell their disgruntled striker. Napoli reportedly value Higuain at £66.9 million but the Gunners appear confident they can land him at their current bidding price.
The Metro noted that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was believed to be close to signing Higuain before leaving Real Madrid in 2013.
Higuain has scored 35 league goals and 53 total goals for Napoli in two years wit the club. In his prior seven-year stint with Real Madrid, Higuain scored 107 times in 190 league appearances for the La Liga outfit. Higuain has recorded double-digit league goals in each of his last seven seasons and at least 24 total goals in five of them.
