Rene Adler happy to stay at Hamburg despite interest from the Emirates Stadium.
Hamburg goalkeeper Rene Adler has insisted that he is happy to stay at the German club, despite interest from Arsenal.
After an inconsistent season from current number one Wojciech Szczesny, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has made upgrading the goalkeeping position a priority in the transfer market this summer, and 28-year-old Adler is said to be the Frenchman’s top target.
Adler, however, is not interested in a move, and insists he is happy with his current club Hamburg.
“I am under contract with Hamburg, that is a fact,” he said.
“I can say that I have not thought about leaving or considered a transfer since I joined Hamburg (in May 2012).”
Wenger is looking to bolster a squad that once again failed to mount a serious challenge in both the Premier League and Champions League, and the tactician may be handed a significant transfer budget this summer.
Should the Adler deal not go through, however, Wenger must look elsewhere for a goalkeeping solution, with Barcelona’s Victor Valdes and QPR’s Julio Cesar both also rumoured to be on his shopping list.
