Arsenal look like caving in and performing a U-turn by offering want-away right-back Bacary Sagna a new contract on the terms that the Frenchman originally requested, according to reports in the Daily Telegraph.
The France international’s contract at the north London club only runs until the end of June, although the two parties have been in face-to-face negotiations regarding a new deal for over a year now.
Sagna has been seeking a three-year contract extension of significantly improved terms to those which the 31-year-old is currently on in the capital, although initially the Gunners were only prepared to hand the attacking full back a new two-year deal.
However, with Sagna currently in possession of bumper deals from the likes of mega-rich Premier League rivals such as Manchester City, as well as the likes of Serie A giants Inter Milan and Turkish champions Galatasaray, Arsenal have now been forced to cede to the defender’s demands in an effort to keep him at the club next season.
