Frenchman ready to give Nicklas Bendtner a final chance to earn a new deal.
Arsenal are unlikely to sign a new striker in January, with boss Arsene Wenger prepared to give Nicklas Bendtner a final chance to earn a new contract, according to The Daily Telegraph.
The Gunners are still seeking a new forward but Wenger is aware he is unlikely to find the right player in January and will therefore resist any offers for Bendtner, who scored in Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Hull City – his first goal for the club since March 2011.
Bendtner, 25, has nearly left Arsenal on numerous occasions over the past two seasons and would have been sold in the summer had the Gunners managed to sign either Luis Suarez or Demba Ba.
The club are thought to have been impressed with Bendtner’s training ground attitude and their stance will only change if they do manage to sign a forward next month.
Bendtner’s current deal expires at the end of this season and he remains likely to depart for nothing at the end of this campaign,
However, it is understood Wenger is ready to consider a new deal for the Denmark international if he continues to impress.
