In one of the most surprising transfer rumours of the January window, German newspaper Bild is claiming that Bundesliga behemoths Bayern Munich want Arsenal’s Tomas Rosicky.
The 33-year-old playmaker will be available on a free transfer in the summer when his contract expires, and Bayern boss Pep Guardiola believes Rosicky would be a handy addition to his star-studded squad.
Bayern already have Thiago, Mario Gotze and Thomas Muller, who can all play attacking midfield, not to mention wide men Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, so Rosicky’s signing would strengthen their squad even further.
So far this season, Rosicky has been used sparingly, but has been effective most times Arsene Wenger has selected him. He’s made seven starts in the Premier League, but has started five of Arsenal’s six Champions League matches, where he performed admirably.
Before he joined Arsenal, Rosicky starred for Bayern’s great rivals Borussia Dortmund, so the move would undeniably cause controversy among both sets of supporters.
