Gunners keen on Michy Batshuayi admits Standard Liege president.
Arsenal are interested in promising Standard Liege forward Michy Batshuayi, according to the Belgian club’s president.
The 20-year-old has scored 12 goals and provided two assists in 17 Jupiler League games and is attracting interest from a host of big clubs across the continent.
Arsenal are in the market for a reasonably-priced back up to current first choice striker Olivier Giroud and have been linked with a move for the 6’1″ youngster in January.
With one goal and two assists in four UEFA Europa League appearances this term, Batshuayi’s success is not limited to the lower standards of the Belgian domestic league, and still just 20 he could be expected to make the step up.
And Standard Liege’s president Roland Duchatelet has admitted the Gunners’ are interested in the forward but says any move will have to wait until next summer.
“What is new is the interest of Arsenal, although Arsenal are just one of many clubs who are chasing our striker Michy. Anyway, we are not willing to let go Michy this season,” he said.
