According to The Daily Mail, the Toffees are set to move for Standard Liege striker Michy Batshuayi, who has been linked with Arsenal.
The Gunners have reportedly been tracking the 20-year-old since the end of last season but Roberto Martinez’s side hope to beat their Premier League rivals to the punch by buying the youngster this month before immediately loaning him to Juliper League outfit Anderlecht.
Standard are willing to sell for the right price but are unhappy with Everton’s plans to loan Batshuayi to one of their domestic rivals, and this could prove a stumbling block in negotiations.
Batshuayi has scored 32 goals in 80 senior appearances for Standard, plus 14 in 21 this season.
The hulking youngster has naturally earned comparisons with compatriot Lukaku, who is currently enjoying a season-long loan at Goodison Park from Chelsea.
