Marseille’s Valbuena admits that the Frenchman wants to leave Ligue 1.
Arsenal and Atletico Madrid have been put on alert as Marseille attacking midfielder Mathieu Valbuena admits the France international wants to leave Ligue 1.
Reports from Mercato 365 suggest that any interested club will have to pay around £10m for the 29-year-old, who may have worried Marseille fans with these recent comments.
“I have been here, at Marseille, for eight years now,” Valbuena was quoted by Get Football News.
“I have never denied my want to try and play abroad. We shall see what happens.”
The midfielder has actually been at the Stade Velodrome for a little over seven years and has played 304 matches for the French team.
Marseille finished second in the top tier last season and Valbuena played a huge part in that success, but since then the side have been disappointing.
This term they are way off title contention and sit in sixth place and they were also knocked out in the Champions League group stage without winning a single game.
Valbuena however remains a top talent and a player admired by some of Europe’s elite and the Gunners would be understandably keen on the Frenchman.
The north London side do have a number of stars already in attacking midfield though, with Santi Cazorla and club record signing Mesut Ozil the most prominent.
