The north London duo are now also interested in Udinese’s Badu.
Udinese midfielder Emmanuel Ageymang-Badu has attracted interest from Liverpool in recent times and now Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have joined the hunt, according to Inside Futbol.
The 23-year-old has been impressing in Serie A this season, including scoring the third goal in the his team’s 3-0 victory over Chievo Verona at the weekend.
That strike was Badu’s third of the campaign and the African has been a mainstay in the side with 19 appearances in all competitions in 2013/14.
This is a significant increase on last term and shows just how important the Ghana international now is to the Udinese team.
The Italians are aware that they are unlikely to keep hold of Badu, but will be hoping that they can get the Premier League trio to start a bidding war for the midfield ace.
His contract at the Stadio Fruili doesn’t expire until 2016 and therefore the club are in a good position to negotiate a price for the defensive midfielder.
The Reds had lined up a move for Badu to give them more support in the centre of the park, as although captain Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson have been in good form, there are question marks over Joe Allen’s capabilities and Lucas Leiva is out with a knee injury.
As for the Gunners, they re-signed Mathieu Flamini in the summer of 2013 to give them some grit in midfield, but Mikel Arteta has struggled to adapt to a more defensive role and both Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere like to break forward.
Finally Spurs are fairly well stocked in the area – with Paulinho, Sandro and Etienne Capoue at the club – but the Frenchman has been linked with a move away despite only signing for Tottenham six months ago.
