Arsenal reportedly failed in a last-ditch attempt to sign Juventus striker Simone Zaza.
The Gunners seemed to be in the market for a forward throughout the summer but gave up on their pursuits of Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema and Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani.
According to Sky Italia, cited by talkSPORT, the Londoners turned their attention to Zaza on deadline day and had an offer rejected for the Azzurri international.
However, it is thought that Juventus would have been willing to sell had Arsenal returned with a bid in excess of £22m for the former West Ham United target.
Zaha, who has scored 22 goals in 66 appearances during a two-year loan spell at Sassuolo, had been in discussions over a loan move to Upton Park earlier in the window.
