Arsenal battling with Roma for young forward.
Arsenal face competition from Serie A outfit AS Roma to land France under-21 starlet Paul-Georges Ntep, according to French magazine Le10Sport.
The youngster is attracting huge interest from across Europe, with Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham all thought to be monitoring Ntep.
But the Gunners and Roma are thought to be leading the way, with Ntep’s club Auxerre ready to accept around £8.5m for the forward, as financial difficulties continue to hamper the club.
Wenger is in need of a new striker to support first choice Olivier Giroud but Ntep says a move to North London would depend on first team opportunities.
“Arsenal is a club that trusts young players. But it would all depend on the project,” he told L’Equipe.
“If it is going to a new club to remain on the bench, what is the improvement? I don’t ask to be in the starting 11 of a big club immediately, but I could help in the not too long-term.
“If I have reached such a level now, it is because Auxerre offered me stability that allowed me to reach new levels.
“I don’t forget. Nowadays you can be a much-demanded player and tomorrow the player everyone will laugh about.”
