Frankfurt’s Jung looks set to make the switch to north London.
It appears Arsenal have finally found their replacement for contract rebel Bacary Sagna as the agent of Eintracht Frankfurt’s Sebastian Jung says a transfer is close.
Despite strong links with the likes of Toulouse FC right-back Serge Aurier, Daryl Janmaat of Feyenoord and Borussia Dortmund’s Lukasz Pizszcek, it seems Jung is the man they want.
The German’s agent Mino Grillo has admitted that the Gunners have shown interest and despite advances from AC Milan, AS Roma and Inter Milan in the past, it is the Premier League outfit that are closest to completing what is expected to be around a £7m deal.
“In England we know Arsenal are very strongly on his trail for the summer,” Grillo was quoted by the Metro.
“They have had scouts watching him in the Bundesliga. There is was interest in the past from Inter, Roma and Milan, but no recent contact.”
Jung is a product of the Frankfurt youth system and rose through the ranks before breaking into their first team back in 2009.
Since then the 23-year-old has played 161 times for the Bundesliga club in all competitions and has also represented Germany at every level up to the senior team – with 19 caps for the Under-21s.
Arsene Wenger is on the hunt for a new right-back due to Sagna’s current deal at the Emirates Stadium expiring at the end of this season.
Despite continued negotiations with the Frenchman no agreement has been met and with backup Carl Jenkinson considered to not yet be good enough to take up responsibilities, a new full-back is a transfer priority.
