The club are looking to sign Schalke’s Draxler and Jung of Frankfurt.
Representatives from Arsenal have flown out to Germany to finalise the double transfer of long-term target Julian Draxler of Schalke 04 and also Eintracht Frankfurt’s Sebastian Jung, according to Goal.
With the deadline for the January window coming on Friday, the Gunners are running out of time if they want to strengthen their squad before the summer.
The north London club have been strongly linked with Draxler for some time, with the 20-year-old even admitting a move to the Emirates Stadium would be an attractive prospect.
However, the two clubs cannot agree on a fee for the attacker, with Arsene Wenger valuing the German between £25m and £30m, whilst Schalke are holding out for the player’s £37.2m release fee.
Wenger wants to bring in support in attack after Theo Walcott picked up an anterior cruciate ligament injury earlier in the month and is hoping the side’s current German contingent of Per Mertesacker, Mesut Ozil and Lukas Podolski can convince Draxler to join.
Even if the club cannot complete a deal for the Germany international before the window closes then they will come back again in the summer.
As for Jung, Wenger is looking for alternatives to Bacary Sagna at right-back, as negotiations to extend the Frenchman’s contract continue to go nowhere.
In an ideal world the club would like Sagna to extend his stay beyond this summer, but with that looking unlikely alternatives in defence are needed.
The 23-year-old Jung has been impressing with Frankfurt since progressing from their youth academy in 2009 and it’s thought an offer of around £7m would be enough to land the full-back.
