Newcastle have slapped a hefty price on Cabaye.
Having nearly signed Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye in the summer Arsenal have now been told it will cost them £22m if they still want the Frenchman, according to the Daily Mail.
The 27-year-old was attracted by a move to the Emirates Stadium at the time and was left out of the Magpies team at the start of the season as a result – something manager Alan Pardew was not happy with.
“We’ve prepared with the lad for three days and then for him to have his head turned by this bid from Arsenal on the eve of the game is just disrespectful,” Pardew said before the first match of the new campaign.
“Why it couldn’t have waited until tomorrow morning I do not know.”
Since then Cabaye has been reinstated in the Newcastle first team and has been brilliant throughout, helping the north east side to a 0-3 victory in their last league game with Crystal Palace.
This form has seen Paris Saint-Germain take interest and the Ligue 1 champions are prepared to make a January bid.
With PSG having so much transfer funds it’s easy to see why the Magpies have upped their price, but it does mean that the Gunners will probably be out-priced.
Also, with the likes of Mikel Arteta, Jack Wilshere and the superb Aaron Ramsey already at the club, many fans may suggest that Arsene Wenger spent the money more wisely.
