But Gunners target could be allowed to leave next summer.
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has dismissed reports that Alvaro Morata could join Arsenal in January.
The striker has been linked with the Gunners and North London rivals Tottenham after failing to make an impact at the Santiago Bernabeu this season.
The 21-year-old forward, who is regarded as one of Real’s hottest prospects, has started just one La Liga match this term but has found the net in substitute appearances against Levante and Almeria.
Arsenal and Spurs are both in need of striking reinforcements and have been linked with a loan move for Morata in the New Year.
But Los Blancos head-coach Ancelotti says the club ‘need’ Morata but has admitted he could depart next summer.
“Morata will stay here,” Ancelotti told Spanish daily AS. “We need him. It’s true he hasn’t played in a lot of games but we trust him.”
“Maybe at the end of the season he won’t be happy and we can think about him leaving but for now we need him.”
