Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he is working “24 hours a day” to bring in new signings before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
The Frenchman has admitted that the Gunners are not close to doing any deals, but said that they will work until the last minute to try to find solutions.
“I’m available 24 hours a day,” he told reporters. “I have a team around me who work day and night to find good solutions. We are not close [to signing anyone].”
“You have specific targets and then another becomes available because of something else. “I am always confident that a last minute situation or solution is available.”
Former Arsenal player Paul Merson today told Sky Sports that the Londoners are still short of a striker, holding midfielder and centre-back if they want to challenge for the title this season.
The Gunners have been linked with Sevilla anchorman Grzegorz Krychowiak, and are reportedly eyeing Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani after giving up on Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema.
