The Daily Express are reporting today that Arsenal’s mooted summer move for AC Milan’s maverick striker Mario Balotelli could be on the rocks as the Serie A side consider a possible swap deal for Monaco’s Colombian centre forward Falcao.
Arsenal have been linked with the former Manchester City man as they look to provide competition for Olivier Giroud upfront, the Frenchman having ploughed a lone furrow in attack for much of the 2013/14 season.
It is not yet known how keen new Milan manager Filippo Inzaghi is to keep Balotelli at the San Siro, with the 23 year-old having frustrated as much as he has delighted in Serie A since returning from Manchester.
AS Monaco finished second in Ligue 1 last season – although they had been able to maintain a relatively strong challenge to eventual winners Paris Saint Germain until star striker Falcao picked up an injury in a French cup tie.
The injury has proven to be serious enough to keep Falcao out of the Colombian squad for the World Cup, but the former Atletico Madrid man is believed to be unsettled at the French club and may well be looking to leave after just one season with Monaco.
