The 20-year-old is regarded as one of the top defensive talents in Italy, and impressed during a loan spell with Sampdoria last season.
However, he isn’t expected to be given such an important role at the Stadio Olimpico, which has resulted in him pushing for a reunion with Milan boss Sinisa Mihajlovic after their time working together last year.
Whether or not he gets his wish remains to be seen, as Arsene Wenger has also been monitoring his future with a view of strengthening his central defensive options, as reported by the Metro.
Nevertheless, it looks as though he will be left disappointed as Milan currently have a €25m plus bonuses offer on the table, and it may well be accepted by their Serie A rivals after it was initially dismissed for not meeting their €30m valuation.
It is suggested that the imminent arrivals of Mohamed Salah and Edin Dzeko have resulted in the change of heart, with Roma having to balance their books after spending €40m to acquire the pair.
