FC Schalke 04 star has similar asking price to Arsenal’s record signing Mesut Ozil.
FC Schalke 04 playmaker Julian Draxler is likely to move clubs this summer, according to German publication Bild.
The attacking midfielder, who turned 20 years of age last week, has already made 118 appearances in all competitions for the Gelsenkirchen side, scoring 24 goals in the process – including 13 in 39 matches last season.
Draxler reportedly wants to try his luck in a different league at a major European club, whilst Schalke are more open to his exit than previously thanks to the performances of teenager Max Meyer.
18 year-old Meyer has scored four times and provided a single assist in his ten matches this season, and looks a sure successor to his countryman in the making.
Linked with Arsenal a number of times over the past year or so, Schalke look set to ask for €45.5 million (approximately £38.1m) to part with Julian Draxler.
It is an asking price that previously would have been scoffed at by supporters of the Gunners, but having paid close to that amount for Mesut Ozil, Arsene Wenger could dip into the north London side’s substantial cash reserves again.
However, Bild state that Draxler’s dream is to move to Spain, meaning that Arsenal may have work to do to convince the Germany international to move to Emirates Stadium.
