Di Maria has some choice words for Spurs.
Real Madrid midfielder and Arsenal transfer target Angel Di Maria lashed out at reporters linking the Argentine with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The 26-year-old played a big part in Los Blancos’ successful first season under head coach Carlo Ancelotti, a year in which they won both the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.
Di Maria adapted his game due to the arrival of new players such as Isco and world record transfer Gareth Bale, dropping into a deeper role and excelling.
Yet despite this the Argentina international is still being linked with a move away from the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and the South American is not happy with some of the names he’s being touted by.
“It hurts when you’re always doing your best for your club and then you hear that you might be going to Tottenham,” Di Maria was quoted by the London Evening Standard.
This goes some way to showing how far Spurs have fallen in terms of their stature on the European stage since they last qualified for the Champions League back in 2010.
Some fans in the white half of north London may find this offensive, but Di Maria’s comments are sure to please their fierce local rivals at the Emirates Stadium.
This is made especially more prominent as the Gunners are heavily linked with the Madrid star, hoping that he follows in the footsteps of Mesut Ozil and makes the switch to the Gunners.
