Iker Casillas, 32 (Real Madrid)
Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas’ fall from grace has been quite dramatic. Despite the Spaniard winning everything in the club game, former boss Jose Mourinho (now at Chelsea) dropped Casillas for Diego Lopez in January 2013 after a number of fallouts.
Mourinho’s replacement Carlo Ancelotti has not restored Casillas to the starting line-up on a regular basis, and the 32 year-old continues to be linked elsewhere – including Arsenal.
However, despite his error against West Ham United, Wojciech Szczesny has been consistent and much improved in net, and after signing a new contract earlier in the season, it can be safely assumed that Arsene Wenger views him as long term first choice.
Given the need to strengthen other positions in the side, a move for Casillas seems unlikely.
