Finally, Mesut Ozil pays for 23 operations for children

Having won the 2014 World Cup with Germany the £42.4m attacking midfielder was clearly feeling particularly generous.

Ozil announced on his Facebook page that having already paid for the operations of 11 children, that number has now been increased to 23.

The total is to symbolise each one of the players in the triumphant German squad and the 25-year-old has said it is a thank you to the people of Brazil.
