Arsenal may have to replace Bacary Sagna this summer, with the France international continuing to delay signing a contract extension at Emirates Stadium.
Here are five players who could transfer to the Gunners this summer if Sagna goes, having each recently been linked with Arsene Wenger’s men.
Serge Aurier (Toulouse FC)
Toulouse right back Serge Aurier is an Arsenal supporter, as revealed when he posted the below image to social network Twitter.
The 21 year-old Cote d’Ivoire international (who also holds French citizenship) boasts a formidable physical presence, which means he is rarely muscled off the ball, makes powerful bursts forward and is excellent in the air.
Aurier is impressive in both defence and attack, averaging 3 tackles, 2.2 interceptions and 3.2 clearances and 2.8 aerial duel successes per Ligue 1 match.
He is also a fine crosser, with 1.1 successful deliveries per game helping to explain his fine total of six assists.
With five goals in the French first division too, Aurier is developing into an all round player who could be a great long term successor for Sagna.
