Gunners boss wants to bring Lyon’s Clement Grenier to the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted his interest in signing Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier.
The 22-year-old playmaker was nearly sold by the Ligue 1 outfit last summer but an injury to Yoann Gourcuff presented Grenier with an opportunity which he seized with both hands.
Grenier has attracted attention from across Europe with his displays in an attacking midfield role for Remi Garde’s side this term, and the classy starlet was particularly impressive in the Europa League last-32 second leg against Tottenham, creating Maxime Gonalons opening goal with a fine free-kick.
In total, France under-21 international 33 appearances this term, scoring 7 goals and laying on nine assists, and Wenger admitted he was a fan of the talented youngster.
“We are following him, I like the intelligence of his play,” the Gunners boss was quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror.
“He has interesting qualities, if anyone, he reminds me of [Samir] Nasri.”
Wenger reportedly has a hefty transfer kitty to spend this summer and the Frenchman has already been linked with moves for the likes of Stevan Jovetic of Fiorentina and Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain.
