Gunners considering Higuain move, as Fiorentina continue to play hard-ball over Jovetic.
Arsenal are considering alternatives to Stevan Jovetic as Fiorentina to continue to hold out for £30m for the Montenegrin forward, according to the Evening Standard.
Some sources have suggested the Gunners are close to landing Jovetic in a deal worth around £25m but the the newspaper claims boss Arsene Wenger will consider other options, including Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain.
Juventus are also interested in Jovetic, 23, but despite an abundance of suitors, La Viola will not budge on their asking price.
Despite the Italians current hard-line stance, Arsenal are understood to be confident of getting their man for significantly less than £30m, while Jovetic’s £100,000-a-week wage demands should not prove a problem for the club, after a 16th successive season in the Champions League was confirmed on Sunday.
The Gunners are, however, considering other options, including Higuain, who could follow Jose Mourinho out of the Spanish capital.
The Argentine striker is reportedly available for just £19m this summer and it remains unclear if Mourinho’s likely successor Carlo Ancelotti sees a future for Higuain at the Santiago Bernabeu.
