Jose Mourinho has revealed some worrying news concerning first-choice striker Diego Costa ahead of Sunday’s FA Community Shield clash at Wembley Stadium.
Costa was substituted in their pre-season victory over Barcelona in the early hours of Wednesday morning, and his Portuguese manager has divulged on the reason behind his forward’s early exit at the FedEx Field:
“Diego felt a little thing in his hamstring,” as quoted by the Telegraph.
“We believe it is just a feeling, no more than that. But we have to wait.”
The former Atletico Madrid star struggled with his hamstring for significant chunks of last season, and this is worrying news ahead of their title-defending campaign.
Though Radamel Falcao looks ready to step up in the Spain international’s absence.
Gary Cahill is also a concern. The centre-back scored against Barca, but may have broken his nose in doing so.
