Midfield
Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal)
Aaron Ramsey has made the joint most tackles and joint most assists in the Barclays Premier League prior to Saturday’s games, and has scored the fourth most goals.
His evolution into a tremendous all round midfielder has been impressive to watch – particularly after suffering a career threatening injury – and the Welshman is now up there with the best central players in Europe.
Steven Gerrard (Liverpool)
Steven Gerrard may not be the lung-busting box to box midfielder of years gone by, but his game intelligence has developed immensely, and his understanding of when to sprint forward and when to sit back is highly impressive.
Gerrard is always on duty to help out his defence as well as help build attacks, and at the age of 33 he remains a truly great player.
Mesut Ozil (Arsenal)
Mesut Ozil demonstrated his sheer class only minutes into his first Gunners appearance, taking down the ball brilliantly and assisting for Giroud.
The Germany international is a wonderfully creative player and has shown considerable goal threat in his short time at Emirates Stadium. There are few better players in the Barclays Premier League to watch.
