Manchester City and Arsenal are set to face off in the traditional season curtain raiser at Wembley, with the Premier League champions taking on the FA Cup winners in the Community Shield.
City manager Manuel Pellegrini has suggested that he is set to be without seven first team players for the clash, however, which could leave the Citizens’ line-up looking like this:
Goalkeeper and Defence
GK) Joe Hart – The England number one is likely to remain as City’s first choice, despite Willy Caballero’s good form in pre-season.
RB) Gael Clichy – Like to start out of position, with both of City’s right backs, Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta, not considered for selection.
CB) Matija Nastasic – Will be given a chance to shine with Vincent Kompany and Martin Demichelis missing out.
CB) Dedryck Boyata – Could be a huge opportunity for the young Belgian to show that he deserves his place in the City squad.
LB) Aleksander Kolarov – Likely to face off against new Arsenal signing Mathieu Debuchy in the battle of the attacking full backs.
