Gunners chase another signing from Chile.
Arsenal are being linked with a move for Napoli striker Eduardo Vargas, but will face competition from Valencia for his signature, according to talkSPORT.
The Gunners have been eyeing new attacking options for much of this summer as Arsene Wenger seeks to provide Olivier Giroud with some quality competition for his place upfront, though Vargas is a somewhat surprise target given his relatively poor goalscoring record.
The 24-year-old netted five times in 25 appearances in a loan spell with Valencia last season, though his performances seem to have done enough to persuade the Spanish club to try and sign him on a permanent deal.
Arsenal may still be in for him due to a recommendation to Wenger from Vargas’ fellow Chilean and another Gunners new-boy Alexis Sanchez, but it does not look as though the player would be a significant upgrade on the likes of Yaya Sanogo and Joel Campbell, who have impressed in pre-season.
