Arsenal
As so often has been the case this season, Arsenal have issues in defence. Arsene Wenger is unable to select Kieran Gibbs at left back due to a thigh strain, while January recruitment Nacho Monreal is unable to play due to previous UEFA Champions League appearances for Malaga CF this season.
Centre half Laurent Koscielny will require a late fitness test on a calf complaint, but aside from that, Arsenal are at full strength physically. It will be up to Arsene Wenger to make sure that they are ready mentally too.
Bayern Munich
For the Bundesliga champions elect, versatile defender Holger Badstuber is still out with a knee injury. Striker Claudio Pizarro misses out due to ill health, while Jerome Boateng is suspended.
Bayern Munich look set to be boosted by the return of Javi Martinez to the starting line-up though, with the impressive Spaniard back in training after a severely bruised toe.
“As things stand at the moment, it looks really good. He is available again,” said head coach Jupp Heynckes in his pre-match press conference.
