Higuain not going to Arsenal: Napoli boss wants him to stay.
The Gunners have been linked with the 27-year-old for some time, but up to now Arsene Wenger has made no formal approach.
That hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from suggesting that the Frenchman will eventually act, but it appears as though he will be left disappointed if he does.
“Higuain is a phenomenal player and that is why he is not for sale. He will remain at Napoli,” club director Cristiano Giuntoli told SportItalia, as reported by Football Italia.
Napoli will not feature in the Champions League next season, and that is a problem area in their bid to keep Higuain who has made no secret of his desire to compete in Europe’s premier competition.
However, with new boss Maurizio Sarri also insisting on Wednesday that he looks forward to working with the striker, he may well be set for another season in Naples which will in turn ensure that the likes of Arsenal will have to consider their other options this summer.
