Frenchman has only been at the Britannia for one campaign.
Arsenal are considering making a shock move for Stoke City midfield player Steven N’Zonzi this summer, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.
The France Under-21 international has only been at the Britannia stadium for just the one season, having arrived at Stoke from relegated Blackburn Rovers for just £3 million last August on a four-year deal.
However, with the 24-year-old having last week handed in a transfer request to leave the Premier League strugglers this summer, which was rejected out of hand by Stoke chairman Peter Coates, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is thought to now be keen to take advantage of the player’s unhappiness at the club in order to lure N’Zonzi to the Emirates when the transfer window reopens on 1 July.
N’Zonzi appeared in 35 of Stoke’s 38 top-flight fixtures last season, scoring just the one goal in the process, but the Gunners’ French boss sees the player as being capable of filling the shoes of the injury-prone Abou Diaby in the capital next season.
