Arsene Wenger has said that he does not regret not buying a defensive midfielder over the summer – because Abou Diaby is almost fit, reports the club’s official website.
The Arsenal manager called Abou Diaby a “top-quality player”, and said he could be a “very satisfying solution” to Arsenal’s lack of depth in midfield.
While the French boss stopped short of saying he would be “like a new signing”, Arsenal fans may be frustrated to hear the injury prone Diaby being touted as the man to save their season once again…
Earlier this week, Wenger admitted that Diaby’s injuries no longer made him physically capable of playing the box-to-box role he is used to, and suggested that playing in a deeper-lying role might suit him more once he is fully fit.
