Arsenal were desperate to sign Marco Reus this summer, but the injury that kept him out of this summer’s World Cup put them off pursuing him, claims respected Spanish journalist Kike Marin.
“Arsenal were very interested in Reus and they could have paid the €35 million release clause, but his injury stopped it all,” his tweet translates.
Liverpool have also been heavily linked to Reus, who has turned down Borussia Dortmund’s latest contract offer.
Arsenal signed Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona instead.
El #Arsenal estaba muy interesado en Reus y creo que podría haber pagado los €35 millones de su cláusula, pero su lesión lo paró todo.
