Arsenal are prepared to sell German World Cup winner Lukas Podolski before the transfer window slams shut at the end of this month, because Arsene Wenger believes he has a ready-made replacement in Joel Campbell.
The Gunners’ boss is determined to give the Costa Rica World Cup star some game time this season and, according to the Daily Mirror, that means that Podolski is likely to be sacrificed.
Mirror reports suggest that Podolski is nearing the Emirates exit door – because Arsene Wenger doesn’t want to cash in on Campbell, who is finally set to make his mark for the Gunners this season after a series of loan spells in recent years.
Turkish giants Galatasaray are believes to have expressed an interest in both players, but have been explicitly informed that Campbell is not for sale.
Podolski, 29, has been with Arsenal since 2009, and has scored 28 times in 69 appearances in all competitions. The former FC Koln and Bayern Munich star was part of the Germany team that won the World Cup this summer, but failed to add to his 47 international goals during the competition.
Campbell, 22, scored against Uruguay as he helped Costa Rica reach the quarter-finals of the tournament in Brazil.
