The very best from the final day of the season in the English top flight.

The 2013/14 Premier League season came to a close with Manchester City crowned as champions for the second time in the last three years.

Norwich City joined Cardiff City and Fulham in being relegated to the Championship, whilst Tottenham Hotspur confirmed their Europa League spot ahead of Manchester United.

Here is the season’s last Team of the Week.

John Ruddy Norwich

GK – John Ruddy, Norwich City

The only Canaries player who seemed to be fully focused in a 0-2 loss to Arsenal and the Englishman made a string of top-class saves to keep the scoreline down.

Has made a late case to national team boss Roy Hodgson that he should be on the plane to the 2014 World Cup.

Cesar Azpilicueta Chelsea

RB – Cesar Azpilicueta, Chelsea

Reverted back to his usual right-back and finished off what has been a fine term for the Spaniard with a display showcasing both his defensive and attacking class.

Azpilicueta is now equally adept at either right or left-back and the 24-year-old is becoming one of Jose Mourinho’s most reliable performers.

Luke Shaw Southampton

LB – Luke Shaw, Southampton

Showed yet again why some of the best sides in the country are clamoring for this 18-year-old’s signature with a dominant display.

Shaw had fellow teenager Adnan Januzaj in his pocket all game and will have sent a clear message out to Hodgson that he should be going to Brazil.

Vincent Kompany Manchester City Andy Carroll West Ham

CB – Vincent Kompany, Manchester City

When City needed a win their captain put in a performance worthy of winning the title, shackling West Ham United’s Andy Carroll and also scoring his side’s second.

Although has been absent for large chunks of the year due to injury, there is no doubting the Belgium international played a big part in City’s success.

Michael Dawson Tottenham

CB – Michael Dawson, Tottenham Hotspur

There has been plenty of criticism aimed at the Spurs captain this season and in many cases rightly so, as Dawson has been an inconsistent presence.

Yet in the win over Aston Villa the 30-year-old was anything but inconsistent, dominating the Tottenham back line from start to finish and looking assured at all times.

Wayne Routledge Swansea

RM – Wayne Routledge, Swansea City

After securing their top flight survival for at least one more year in midweek, Sunderland’s players appeared to have one eye on their summer holidays and Routledge capitalised.

The winger was lively from the off and set up Nathan Dyer for the first goal with a superb pass and was a constant threat to the Black Cats.

Andre Schurrle Chelsea

LM – Andre Schurrle, Chelsea

Came on in the second half and changed the game for the Blues with his pace and energy, scoring the equaliser and then setting up Fernando Torres’ winner.

Was much more influential than the lacklustre Mohamed Salah, Oscar and Eden Hazard and made a case to Germany boss Joachim Loew that he should make the final 23-man squad for the World Cup.

Aaron Ramsey Arsenal

CM – Aaron Ramsey, Arsenal

Another superb display in what has been a brilliant campaign for the Welshman, scoring his 15th goal of the season in spectacular style with a stunning volley.

Ramsey has put all previous doubts about his ability behind him and Arsene Wenger could have a genuine world-class player on his hands.

James McCarthy Everton

CM – James McCarthy, Everton

This has been a fine first year at Goodison Park for the Irishman who has proven beyond doubt he could make the step up from Wigan Athletic.

As the Toffees inflicted yet another defeat on out of form Hull City, McCarthy dominated the midfield and even scored a rare goal.

Dwight Gayle Crystal Palace

ST – Dwight Gayle, Crystal Palace

Scored a brace for the second time in six days and it would have had a hat-trick if he’d reacted slightly quicker when Glenn Murray’s shot rebounded off the bar.

Gayle became Palace’s club record signing last summer when joining from Peterborough United for £4.5m and after a slow start, it really beginning to find his feet now.

Emmanuel Adebayor Tottenham Hotspur

ST – Emmanuel Adebayor, Tottenham Hotspur

Finished the term strongly with another dominant display in which the striker put the Villa defence to the sword in a 3-0 win.

Forced defender Nathan Baker into scoring an own goal and then asserted his authority with a well struck penalty to be recognised as one of Tim Sherwood’s best achievements in his short time in charge.
