Ramsey delighted with ‘amazing week’.
Aaron Ramsey has praised Arsenal new boy Mesut Ozil after the German shone on his debut in the Gunners’ 3-1 victory at Sunderland on Saturday.
Ozil, 23, set up Olivier Giroud with a fine through ball in the first half before two strikes from Ramsey, his fourth and fifth of the season, sealed the points after the Black Cats had equalised through a Craig Gardner penalty.
Ramsey, who also featured alongside the world’s most expensive player, Gareth Bale, for Wales on Tuesday, admitted it had been a week to remember.
“It’s been an amazing week, what with playing with Gareth and Mesut as well,” the 22-year-old said.
“In the past few seasons I’ve been getting into positions without quite having the composure to finish it off and put chances away.
“But now things seem to be gelling quite nicely.
“I’m delighted with the way things are going right now and I just have to keep up this kind of form.”
The Welshman praised Ozil, a £43.3m arrival from Real Madrid on deadline day, and feels it is no surprise that the playmaker has racked up 73 assists in the past five seasons.
“You saw what Mesut is all about with those lovely, telling through-balls to set people up one-on-one with the keeper.
“That’s why he is top of the assist chart around the whole of Europe.
“He is an unbelievable talent and hopefully that is just the start of many things to come from him.
“The timing of the pass is everything. He has a wonder of a left foot and the way he strokes the ball means that the passes he delivers always seem to be perfectly weighted, right into players’ strides.
“He has been pretty quiet, getting on with his job. But he seems a great person, both on and off the pitch.
“It’s going to be great playing alongside him. The club was fairly confident of getting a signing like him and they got him.
“The fans will be delighted with that and during his debut they didn’t stop singing his name.
“Hopefully there are great things to come from him.”
