Arsenal’s Spanish anchorman Mikel Arteta says he’s never seen Arsene Wenger behave the way he did against Liverpool at half-time on Saturday, the Guardian reports.
After just 18 minutes, the side that led the Premier League table before kick-off were 4-0 down to a rampant Liverpool side – who if anything – were unlucky not to have scored more.
“We know we need to improve and face those games in a different manner because after 19 minutes we were 4-0 down and it was like a car crash,” said Arteta, who did score a consolation second half penalty.
“The manager was really upset at half-time, that’s normal because it wasn’t good enough for this football club. It was the angriest I have seen him.”
After Chelsea beat Newcastle, Arsenal dropped down to second place in the table, and their conquerors Liverpool went within five points of their rivals.
The Gunners have a torrid run of fixtures coming up, and have to play Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Liverpool again this February.
Fans will hope their excellent season doesn’t unravel in the space of a few weeks…
