Spurs among the teams interested in Lukas Podolski but Schalke lead the chase.
Arsenal’s bitter North London rivals Tottenham are among the clubs to have enquired about Lukas Podolski, according to German daily Bild.
Galatasaray and Wolfsburg are also interested in the 28-year-old but Bundesliga giants Schalke are thought to lead the race for the Germany international.
Podolski joined Arsenal from Cologne last summer and made 33 appearances, scoring 11 goals, in his debut season in the Premier League.
But the former Bayern Munich man was frequently substituted by boss Arsene Wenger last term and has found himself on the bench for the Gunners’ first two matches of the new season.
Arsenal’s reported interest in Real Madrid duo Karim Benzema and Angel Di Maria is likely to further limit Podolski’s chances this term and he could depart before the close of the transfer window on 2 September.
Schalke are in need of attacking reinforcements following the sale of Michel Bastos and injuries to key players Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Jefferson Farfan but their manager Horst Heldt remained coy on a move for Podolski.
“There’s nothing I can say now,” Heldt told Bild.
