The playmaker thinks the Gunners should sign Goetze.
Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Mario Goetze is said to be unsettled at the club and Mesut Ozil has told manager Arsene Wenger that Arsenal should sign him, according to CaughtOffside.
The Gunners’ £42.5m club record signing knows Goetze well as the duo play for the German national team together and thinks the 21-year-old would be a great addition at the Emirates Stadium.
The Germany international has publicly admitted his frustration at the lack of first team football he has gotten at the Allianz Arena this season, after a £33m transfer from Bayern’s rivals Borussia Dortmund last summer.
Goetze has started 29 matches in all competitions, but has had to compete with the likes of Toni Kroos, Thomas Muller, Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben for a place in the first XI.
This dissatisfaction has attracted the interest of the north Londoners, who are looking to improve their squad in the close season after another relatively disappointing campaign.
Despite the arrival of Ozil and the fact that Wenger’s side have topped the Premier League for more days than any other team in 2013/14, the club will finish fourth once again this term.
Whilst they could end what is approaching a nine year trophy drought on May 17 by beating Hull City in the FA Cup final, the fans are still growing frustrated.
However, whether the famously frugal Wenger will sanction the likely huge transfer fee that it would cost to sign Goetze is unknown.
