4) Alvaro Morata (Real Madrid)
It looks increasingly likely that Arsenal‘s bid to sign promising Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata could happen this summer. The talented 21-year-old is highly regarded at the Bernabeu, but he currently faces competition from the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema for a starting spot, as well as possible further summer signings before the start of next season. Real are reportedly keen to bring in around £24m for the Spaniard, but may be willing to accept a lower offer in the region of £14-20m if they can insert a buy-back clause into the deal.
Although clearly talented, this may prove something of a gamble for Arsenal due to Morata’s inexperience at the top level. Even if the player does make it big, the Gunners will then face the prospect of his old club signing him back for what would likely be a cut-price fee, so it would be no surprise if Arsene Wenger tried to wrap up other deals before prioritising this one.
