2) Mario Mandzukic (Bayern Munich)
With Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic publicly stating that he wants to leave the club this summer, Arsenal are seemingly one of many clubs on alert to his availability. The Croatian international would undoubtedly be one of the Gunners’ most seasoned targets in terms of his pedigree and experience. The 27-year-old has shown himself to be a prolific front-man in his time with Bayern, and more importantly, he has netted important goals to help the club to two consecutive Bundesliga title wins, as well as playing a crucial role in their treble-winning year of 2012/13, when he opened the scoring in their 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final.
However, Mandzukic is arguably a fairly similar player to Arsenal’s current strike option Olivier Giroud, in that he is more of a target man than someone with pace to get in behind defences, which is probably the variety that Wenger’s side need at the moment. There are also question marks about his attitude after he stated that Bayern’s playing style under Pep Guardiola could be a big factor in his decision to leave, but at a rumoured asking price of around £21m, he could potentially be one of the bargains of the summer, who will almost certainly go to another big club such as Juventus or Monaco if Arsenal don’t snap him up.
