Angry Arsenal fan demands Chelsea badge-kisser Cesc Fabregas have his banner removed from Emirates
The pair will meet in Sunday’s London derby at the Emirates as the Gunners look to try and cut down Chelsea’s lead at the summit of the Premier League.
Coquelin was full of compliments for his fellow midfield enforcer, saying he would love to have the same effect at the north London club.
“What he’s done is unbelievable. At Chelsea he is one of the main men so credit to him,” Coquelin is quoted as saying by Daily Star.
“He’s had a great season and is a great player. It’s always good to play against players like that.
“It’s an important position and Matic has shown how important he is – that’s what I’m trying to do as well for Arsenal.
“The fans want a good defensive midfielder, they know it’s important for the team.”
The young Frenchman has been a revelation this season, providing the Gunners with much-needed steel in the middle of the pitch.
Coquelin’s assured perfomances this season are believed to have resulted in a transfer re-think for Arsene Wenger, with The Mirror reporting the Gunners manager has cooled his interest in Southampton star Morgan Schneiderlin.
Wenger had been tracking the French midfielder, but Coquelin’s emergence as an anchorman means Wenger is likely to look to bolster other areas of his squad.
