The Gunners line up Bender, Gundogan and Reus.
After spending a club record £42.4m on Real Madrid’s Mesut Ozil, Arsenal are now looking to Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen and a trio of new German stars, according to the Daily Express.
The Gunners are keeping tabs on Lars Bender, Ilkay Gundogan and Marco Reus as the north London club look to improve their squad even further.
It’s a change in tactics from Arsene Wenger’s men who up until splashing the cash for Ozil, had spent no money on new players as Yaya Sanogo and Mathieu Flamini arrived on free transfers.
Both Bender and Gundogan are the defensive minded midfielders that Wenger’s side are often criticised for lacking, whilst Reus is a proven attacking player with an eye for both creating and scoring goals.
However, with Dortmund topping the Bundesliga currently it is unlikely that the duo from the Westfalenstadion would consider a switch to the Premier League.
Bender meanwhile has been a long-term target for Arsenal as the side look to strengthen in their bid for the first piece of silverware since 2005.
The club have been trophyless for eight years, but with Ozil now at the Emirates Stadium there is a new found self belief and positivity.
With the Gunners having won two of their three league matches to date, its has been a solid start in the English top tier as well.
However, if Wenger does want to secure the German trio then it’s likely to cost a significant amount, as they’re all first team players for their club.
