The Daily Mirror reports that Arsenal’s reported deal for Real Madrid ace Sami Khedira could collapse due to the German’s lofty wage demands.
The 27-year old is apparently asking to become the Gunners’ highest paid player at £150,000 per week, which takes him even beyond the likes of Mesut Ozil and new signing Alexis Sanchez, who are are reportedly in the £130,000 per week bracket.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is not known to overspend usually and thus might now end his interest in the former Stuttgart man, although he needs a player like Khedira to add more balance to his midfield next season.
Arsenal might now look at the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin and Lars Bender, who have been tipped to be Wenger’s second choices if the move for Khedira were to fall through. Wenger has shown an inclination to spend big this summer after reportedly tying up a deal for French right back Mathieu Debuchy and announcing the £32 million signing of Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez.
