The 26-year-old is under contract with the Gunners until the end of next season, but that hasn’t stopped speculation from surfacing about his long-term future at the Emirates.
Walcott has been with Arsene Wenger since 2006, but while he is excited about the campaign ahead as he believes they can compete for a Premier League title, he still has the distraction about his future to consider.
“My agent has talked to the club,” he said, according to Sky Sports.
“I enjoy playing for this club, so I am just letting them crack on with things and I’ll continue playing football.
“We’ll just play the waiting game and see what happens but I’m sure it won’t be long. This squad, for me, is one of the best I’ve been involved in. I want to be part of that.”
Walcott scored the opening goal in the team’s 3-1 win over Everton in the Barclays Asia Trophy in Singapore on Saturday, and will hope that is a sign of things to come in an important year for Wenger and his men.
However, his future will always be a subject for much discussion and that will continue to be the case given the amount of competition that he faces.
