Arsenal could face a last minute hitch in their pursuit of Colombian national team goalkeeper David Ospina as Spanish side Valencia have also entered the race to sign the 25-year old.
The Metro reports that Arsenal had a tentative £3.2 million deal in place to bring the goalie to the Emirates, but Valencia’s intervention could change the scenario.
The La Liga side could offer the shot-stopper more regular football at the Mestalla than Arsenal could as they have earmarked academy product Wojciech Szczesny as their long term No.1 at the Emirates.
The Gunners therefore might have to hurry up their talks with Ospina before Valencia’s hijack plot succeeds if they wish to land the Nice man to replace Lukasz Fabianski, who moved to Swansea on a free transfer this summer.
Ospina has considerable experience in Ligue-1 with Nice and has also been capped 44 times for his national team, making him a shrewd option as a backup goalkeeper.
