7. Davor Suker (1999-2000)
This is where things start picking up a bit. Suker was a word-class striker in his pomp and, although he was past his best when he joined Arsenal, he still managed 11 goals in his one season at the club.
8. Nicolas Anelka (1997-1999)
Wenger gambled on teenager Anelka, and the Frenchman repaid him by finishing as Arsenal’s top scorer in the 1998-99 campaign. He soon left for Real Madrid and the Gunners pocketed £22.5m profit. Although a success on the pitch, Anelka’s Arsenal spell – and career in general – was tainted somewhat by his off-field antics. He also enjoyed very brief stints at Liverpool and Chelsea.
