Arsenal face Besiktas in their most important match of the season so far. With the tie poised at 0-0 after the first-leg, the Gunners know that they need to win in order to qualify for the Champions League group stages.
If they lose, the pressure will be ramped up on manager Arsene Wenger. Here’s how fanatix think Wenger’s men will lineup against Besitkas.
GK – Wojciech Szczesny
The No.1 goalkeeper will need to be on top form to keep out the Turkish giants.
RB – Mathieu Debuchy
One of the club’s main summer signing has fitted in well at the Emirates Stadium. He has filled the void left by the departure of Bacary Sagna and will relish the opportunity of playing against Champions League opposition.
CB – Per Mertesacker
The German giant was ever present in the Gunners side last season and that looks set to continue to be the case this season. His experience in such an important tie will be crucial.
CB – Laurent Koscielny
The Frenchman was left out of Arsenal’s side for the game against Everton at the weekend, but will almost certainly be back for the Besiktas tie. Wenger will want his best two centre backs on the pitch to counter the attacking threat of the Turkish side.
LB – Nacho Monreal
With Kieran Gibbs out injured, Monreal will continue to deputise for the English full back just as he did in the weekend game against the Toffees.
