DC) Joel Ward – Crystal Palace
Ward has been used predominantly at right-back, but he can play at the heart of defence or in an anchoring midfield role, too. Defensively, he’s outstanding. His concentration is impressive, as is his physicality. Palace have won five on the trot, and he’s been ever present.
DC) John Stones – Everton
Apart from Everton fans, few had heard of Stones before this season. He’d spent too relatively uninspiring years with Barnsley, but this year, he came in for the injured Phil Jagielka and has been a revelation.
